In the 8th match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adalmo Varela to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chicão Linares in the 11th minute of play forced Grêmio Clack's goalkeeper Cipriano Falcão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Renato Botelho fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Flamengo's protests and gave Renato Botelho a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Grêmio Clack booed when Flamengo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Renato Botelho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cipriano Falcão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chicão Linares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes, Horácio Galvão made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Grêmio Clack's Cipriano Falcão tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Flamengo's Renato Botelho got a free kick in the 25th minute. Renato Botelho kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Grêmio Clack's Cipriano Falcão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by André Freitas in the 35th minute of play. After having played for 39 minutes, Chicão Linares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chicão Linares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 44 minutes, Edgard Paraíba successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The Grêmio Clack players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Flamengo were winning 0-3.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ruy Ortiz to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Rubinho de Barros came free, but Edgard Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chicão Linares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cipriano Falcão having to interfere. After 59 played minutes Grêmio Clack got a freekick which was hit by Laerte Maia. A hard shot 64 in the game by Horácio Galvão from a close distance when the talented Cipriano Falcão managed to make a qualified save. Grêmio Clack's players were relieved. Edgard Paraíba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ruy Ortiz in the 68th minute of the match. In the 70th minute, Chicão Linares reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cipriano Falcão. The goal made the score 0-4. Chicão Linares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Cipriano Falcão made a huge save. Thanks to some nice moves Antônio Carlos Paes could shoot a difficult shot in the 74th minute, which Cipriano Falcão however easily saved by the left post. In the 76th minute Chicão Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cipriano Falcão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute, Ruy Ortiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 82nd minute, Horácio Galvão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 83 minutes into the match, Grêmio Clack's goal looked a bit too open when Chicão Linares came free, but Cipriano Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Flamengo played a much better game than Grêmio Clack and deserved their victory. The Grêmio Clack players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
