The crowd rose to their feet as Afonso da Rocha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Betão Mazza. That made the score 1-0 in the 4 minute of play. Betão Mazza was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Afonso da Rocha showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 48 minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
