Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Manuel Saldanha got the match started through his kick off. Manuel Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Terra having to interfere. With his leg Claudinho Terra managed to avoid a goal in the 7thth minute, when Goitacazes EC's Tomás Urbano fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Tomás Urbano scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Claudinho Terra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tomás Urbano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Claudinho Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Castelo FC's Roger Cardozo got a free kick in the 24th minute. Goitacazes EC's Tomás Urbano got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 28th minute of the match Agostinho Dante shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudinho Terra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ramiro Gerber fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dagoberto Cardoso having to interfere. Manuel Saldanha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinho Terra having to interfere. Claudinho Terra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomás Urbano went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Claudinho Terra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Saldanha in the 42nd minute of the match. 44 minutes into the match, Castelo FC's goalkeeper Claudinho Terra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tomás Urbano. Haroldo Alagoano hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Flávio de Andrade made a kick off. Roger Cardozo was shown his second yellow card after 51 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. 53 minutes into the game, Luís Gustavo Mumbach was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goitacazes EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castelo FC the free kick. Manuel Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Claudinho Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ramiro Gerber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Elano Faustino kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Claudinho Terra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás Urbano in the 67th minute of play. 68 minutes into the match, Goitacazes EC's Manuel Saldanha sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Claudinho Terra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Claudinho Terra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomás Urbano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 74th match minute, Castelo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Sergipano to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Saldanha in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudinho Terra saved Castelo FC from getting behind. Claudinho Terra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Saldanha, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. After 91st play minutes Tomás Urbano shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Claudinho Terra and just under the crossbar into goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Goitacazes EC had played much better football throughout.
