Castelo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave University the free kick. After 6 played minutes Castelo FC got a freekick which was hit by Didi Sarmento. After having played for 7 minutes, Sílvio Luiz Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. University's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Luiz Quadros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nelson Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nelson Marinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Claudinho Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. University's Lino Simões played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flávio de Andrade in the 27th minute of play. After 28 minutes, Enrique Mesquita mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the University and the Castelo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nelson Marinho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 93rd minute, Ramiro Gerber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Castelo FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
