The VIDRO PRETO players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Riachao were winning 0-1.

If Júlio Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute Basílio Souto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Túlio Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in VIDRO PRETO's zone, Magno Saraiva stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geraldo Vides came out of the goal and Magno Saraiva tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 61st minute Júlio Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Vides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Magno Saraiva struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Geraldo Vides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Riachao. The audience thought a goal was coming when Magno Saraiva got free with Geraldo Vides in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Geraldo Vides made an important save on a dangerous shot by Magno Saraiva in the 70th minute. If Magno Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Júlio Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Riachao's supporters rose to their feet, but Júlio Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Geraldo Vides breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 81st minute, Basílio Souto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Júlio Gonçalves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Geraldo Vides was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Túlio Cavalcante came out of the goal and Geovani Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Riachao eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
