After a defensive mix-up in Naraniu's zone, Zézinho Vaz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fiori Figueiredo came out of the goal and Zézinho Vaz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zézinho Vaz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogo de Azevedo in the 38th minute of play forced Iraucuba's goalkeeper Luís Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A collision led to Naraniu getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Eurico Perez hit a great ball. Wilson Arantes was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 45th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The Iraucuba players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Naraniu were winning 0-1.

The crowd rose to their feet as Naraniu's Guto Arruda slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Luís Brito. That made the score 0-2 after 52 minutes of play. If Diogo de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 63 minutes into the game, Zézinho Vaz cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Fiori Figueiredo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Diogo de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guto Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
