In the 16th minute there was a penalty for Bicudo. Júlio Valle stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Dráuzio Sanches. 0-1. Claudinho Travassos hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Luís Fernando Vargas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dráuzio Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Eger in the 32nd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Fluminense F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho Eger came free, but Dráuzio Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ronaldinho Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ronaldinho Eger made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Fluminense F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Tomé Montenegro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldinho Eger in the 56th minute of play forced Fluminense F.C.'s goalkeeper Dráuzio Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Fluminense F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldinho Eger came free, but Dráuzio Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dráuzio Sanches showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felippe Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Fluminense F.C.'s Luís Fernando Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bernardo Nunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Dito Batista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Nunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dito Batista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. 97 minutes into the match, Fluminense F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Felippe Medeiros came free, but Dráuzio Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
