If Willian Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the game, Bastos's Willian Maciel nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nildo Sanches made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Jarbas Terra came free in the 25th minute and tried to tip the ball over Egídio Zilles, but to the joy of Bastos's supporters the ball went over. After a rather tough play, Bastos's Agnaldo Vianna got a free kick in the 28th minute. Jarbas Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Egídio Zilles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 45 minutes into the game, Bastos's Agnaldo Vianna nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nildo Sanches made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dudu Amaral stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Válbson Cerezo hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Barbosa in the 72nd minute of play forced Galheiro's goalkeeper Nildo Sanches to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Egídio Zilles didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 80th minute, which inside left pole to 2-1. Jarbas Terra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Galheiro's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
