The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Machado got free with Arthur Sergipano in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ceara Sporting Club's Luís Gustavo Loyola got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arthur Sergipano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvinho Albuquerque in the 38th minute of play. A collision led to Antuerpia getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Wilson Lago hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Antuerpia's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo Loyola came free, but Arthur Sergipano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 43 minutes into the game, Wilson Lago was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Antuerpia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ceara Sporting Club the free kick. In the 43rd minute, Wilson Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ceara Sporting Club's Luís Gustavo Loyola in 48 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Arthur Sergipano guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in.

When Rui Machado came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Ceara Sporting Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Machado couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Luís Gustavo Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ceara Sporting Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Gustavo Loyola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arthur Sergipano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 59 minutes into the match, Antuerpia's goal looked a bit too open when Rui Machado came free, but Arthur Sergipano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Luís Gustavo Loyola had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute Luís Gustavo Loyola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arthur Sergipano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 86 minutes, Rui Machado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ceara Sporting Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rui Machado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rui Machado struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Arthur Sergipano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ceara Sporting Club. In the 94th minute, Wilson Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ceara Sporting Club fully deserved thier win.
