Tadeu Proença was slow to take the kick. During this time Catrinense FC's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Renatinho Marques in the 46th minute of play forced Catrinense FC's goalkeeper Geovani Oliveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Catrinense FC's Nilson Porto got a free kick in the 47th minute. Geovani Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renatinho Marques in the 48th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Renatinho Marques to make the kick off. Catrinense FC's Nelsinho Antunes got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 78 minutes into the match, Nelsinho Antunes notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of serra da raquel's Luiz Eger. Luiz Eger was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 81st match minute, Catrinense FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedro Mangueira to maneuver through the defense. In the 92nd minute Mauro Ceresso suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raúl Faria during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Raúl Faria hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, serra da raquel's Leonel Santana tried to score from far away in the 94th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 95 played minutes Catrinense FC got a freekick which was hit by Nilson Porto. serra da raquel's Enéas Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Catrinense FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
