Fernandinho Mesquita struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Virgílio Bastos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tebaida. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edson Araújo got free with Virgílio Bastos in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 24 minutes, Edu Diniz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Turiassu AD and the Tebaida players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Turiassu AD getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Edu Diniz hit a great ball. After having played for 26 minutes, Edson Araújo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tebaida's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edson Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Edson Araújo came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Tebaida fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edson Araújo couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Adelino Soeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Turiassu AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Adelino Soeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tiago Maciel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Adelino Soeiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiago Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Gustavo Leite sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 48 minutes into the match, Gustavo Leite notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Tebaida's Tiago Maciel. Tiago Maciel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Edson Araújo made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tebaida's goalkeeper Tiago Maciel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luiz Fabiano Paraíba hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Gustavo Leite received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Tiago Maciel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Virgílio Bastos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Fabiano Paraíba in the 61st minute of the match. After 86 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Paraíba mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tebaida and the Turiassu AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Tebaida's Luiz Fabiano Paraíba got a free kick in the 86th minute. Tiago Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustavo Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Turiassu AD's Adelino Soeiro got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Turiassu AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Turiassu AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
