After having played for 17 minutes, Gernando Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itapiru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gernando Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cido Santos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gilberto Queiroz showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-0 in the 20 minute of play. Cido Santos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gilberto Queiroz's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After 28 played minutes Itapiru got a freekick which was hit by Pedro Salgado. Itapiru's Cido Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rubens Messias in the 34th minute of play. When Gilberto Queiroz came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Pieropolis fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto Queiroz couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Itapiru getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Doriva Aguiar hit a great ball. Gilberto Queiroz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cido Santos having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Itapiru's Pedro Salgado got a free kick in the 57th minute. If Wellington Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Luís Paulo Arruda came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Itapiru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Paulo Arruda couldn't finish the play. If Gilberto Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 70th match minute, Pieropolis was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chicão Perez to maneuver through the defense. The audience held their breath when Eduardo da Mata in the 72nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Eduardo Lopes's left hand side. Gilberto Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Cido Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 78 minutes of play, Pieropolis's Wellington Teles made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cido Santos was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Luís Paulo Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 84 minutes into the match, Pieropolis's goal looked a bit too open when Gernando Leal came free, but Eduardo Lopes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute, Gilberto Queiroz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pieropolis fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. After 89 played minutes Pieropolis got a freekick which was hit by Rubens Messias. 91 minutes into the match, Pieropolis's goalkeeper Eduardo Lopes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gernando Leal. A collision led to Pieropolis getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Orlando Braga hit a great ball. 94 minutes in the game Eduardo da Mata got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. After a rather tough play, Pieropolis's Emílio Freire got a free kick in the 95th minute. Itapiru's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
