TRIUNFO's defense didn't have a chance, in the 3rd minute, when Valdomiro Goiano scored to the left of an out of position Hernani Santana, making the score, 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Evaristo Paulista managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pork´s Avanti's supporters rose to their feet, but Evaristo Paulista was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hernani Santana breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 12 minutes into the match, Pork´s Avanti's Valdomiro Goiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hernani Santana narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Fred Lopes fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored S.E. TRIUNFO's protests and gave Fred Lopes a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Pork´s Avanti booed when S.E. TRIUNFO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fred Lopes didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to S.E. TRIUNFO getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Abel Souto hit a great ball. A hard shot by Jorge Lopes from long distance, 16 minutes into the match, got Hernani Santana's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind S.E. TRIUNFO's goalkeeper Hernani Santana, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Evaristo Paulista came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Pork´s Avanti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaristo Paulista couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute, Valdomiro Goiano reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Hernani Santana. The goal made the score 2-1. Válter Mattos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Lopes in the 31st minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Armandinho Barreto stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Hernani Santana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valdomiro Goiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evaristo Paulista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdomiro Goiano struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Hernani Santana didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pork´s Avanti. 63 minutes into the game, Armando Tróia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. S.E. TRIUNFO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pork´s Avanti the free kick. Hernani Santana showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdomiro Goiano, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. Valdomiro Goiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Hernani Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 86 minutes, Fred Lopes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. S.E. TRIUNFO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fred Lopes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Valdomiro Goiano came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Pork´s Avanti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdomiro Goiano couldn't finish the play. S.E. TRIUNFO's Hernani Santana played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdomiro Goiano in the 90th minute of play. If Frédson Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Pork´s Avanti players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
