A hard shot 6 in the game by Wellington Prata from a close distance when the talented Ernani Mazza managed to make a qualified save. Liberato's players were relieved. Kaká Matos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rui Veloso's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. After a rather tough play, Itapitanga EC's Charles Palmeira got a free kick in the 10th minute. Kaká Matos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rui Veloso in the 12th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Gustavo Tasso in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kaká Matos saved Itapitanga EC from getting behind. Rui Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd match minute, Itapitanga EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Reginaldo Toledo to maneuver through the defense. In the 23rd minute, Durval Alvarenga sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Itapitanga EC's Kaká Matos didn't even have to move. Vivaldo Antunes struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Ernani Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapitanga EC. Vivaldo Antunes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 27th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Luís Gustavo Tasso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kaká Matos having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vivaldo Antunes in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernani Mazza saved Liberato from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Gustavo Tasso in the 33rd minute of play forced Itapitanga EC's goalkeeper Kaká Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ernani Mazza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. 41 minutes into the match, Itapitanga EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Gustavo Tasso came free, but Kaká Matos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Sandro de Senna fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Liberato's protests and gave Sandro de Senna a yellow card for diving instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Vivaldo Antunes made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Wellington Prata in the 51st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernani Mazza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Itapitanga EC's Vivaldo Antunes got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Itapitanga EC booed when Liberato was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidnei Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rui Veloso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 57th minute of the match, but Kaká Matos made a huge save. Kaká Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Gustavo Tasso in the 64th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Itapitanga EC's zone, Rui Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kaká Matos came out of the goal and Rui Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vivaldo Antunes in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ernani Mazza prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Wellington Prata came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Itapitanga EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wellington Prata couldn't finish the play. Vivaldo Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernani Mazza having to interfere. Wellington Prata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Luís Gustavo Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Liberato fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Gustavo Tasso couldn't finish the play. Rui Veloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Kaká Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Luís Gustavo Tasso reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kaká Matos. The goal made the score 1-1. Wellington Prata struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Ernani Mazza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itapitanga EC. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
