Nelson de Queiroz struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. Virgílio Barros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Salgueirinho SS. After a defensive mix-up in Mandassaia EC's zone, Nelson de Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgílio Barros came out of the goal and Nelson de Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Virgílio Barros made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Leme in the 19th minute of play. Salgueirinho SS's Ivo Leme got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Adrianinho Catarinense was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mandassaia EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Salgueirinho SS the free kick. After 28 played minutes Mandassaia EC got a freekick which was hit by Adrianinho Catarinense. When Salgueirinho SS's Nelson de Queiroz in the 31st minute got a chance for a shot 31st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mandassaia EC's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelinho de Castro got free with Gabriel Nóbrega in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gabriel Nóbrega made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcelinho de Castro in the 37th minute. Gabriel Nóbrega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton de Queirós in the 38th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Marcelinho de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hamílton de Queirós was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Salgueirinho SS's Didi Guedes got a free kick in the 55th minute. Marcelinho de Castro blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gabriel Nóbrega having to make a save. Virgílio Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivo Leme's shot from short distance in the 60th minute. Ivo Leme succeeded in the game's 64th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. If Hamílton de Queirós had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 70 minutes, Marcelinho de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mandassaia EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gabriel Nóbrega made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamílton de Queirós in the 74th minute of play. Marcelinho de Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Virgílio Barros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivo Leme's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Adrianinho Catarinense kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Mandassaia EC's goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Leme came free, but Virgílio Barros reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 83 minutes, Marcelinho de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mandassaia EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelinho de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Matheus Borges kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. If Marcelinho de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gláuber da Costa fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Salgueirinho SS's protests and gave Gláuber da Costa a yellow card for diving instead. After 96 minutes, Hamílton de Queirós mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mandassaia EC and the Salgueirinho SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Mandassaia EC's Hamílton de Queirós got a free kick in the 96th minute.
