Valdomiro Schmidt helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Nicósia SC booed when Quaitiba AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valdomiro Schmidt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Quaitiba AD's Dida Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dida Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After having played for 20 minutes, Cleiton Baiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Quaitiba AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cleiton Baiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eduardo Simões showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Veloso in the 21st minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Dida Veloso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eduardo Simões was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Dida Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eduardo Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dida Veloso in the 46th minute of play. In the 47th minute, Waldir Loureiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Eduardo Simões made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dida Veloso in the 52nd minute of play. If Waldir Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Nilson Veloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 57 played minutes, Quaitiba AD's Juarês Meirelles shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eduardo Simões came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Quaitiba AD reached it. After 68 played minutes Quaitiba AD got a freekick which was hit by Valdomiro Schmidt. Dida Veloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Nicósia SC's Waldir Loureiro got a free kick in the 86th minute. If Dida Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Dida Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Quaitiba AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dida Veloso couldn't finish the play. Quaitiba AD walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
