Tião de Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juninho Botelho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Caetano Lopes in the 11th minute of play forced Maracachita SC's goalkeeper Tião de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If João Francisco Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 16 minutes into the match, João Francisco Nascimento notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Maracachita SC's Tião de Azevedo. Tião de Azevedo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tião de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Francisco Nascimento in the 20th minute of the match. João Francisco Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 30 minutes into the match, Maracachita SC's goal looked a bit too open when João Francisco Nascimento came free, but Tião de Azevedo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the game, Cunhupuca's Caetano Lopes nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tião de Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 47 minutes into the game, João Francisco Nascimento cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Tião de Azevedo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and João Francisco Nascimento made a kick off. José Tepedino charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Tepedino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Maracachita SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cunhupuca:s goal. The goalkeeper, Tião de Azevedo, was totally fooled by Cunhupuca's Serginho Gerber, who 57 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After having played for 62 minutes, João Francisco Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cunhupuca's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Francisco Nascimento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Maracachita SC's Tião de Azevedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Francisco Nascimento in the 65th minute of play. Caetano Lopes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Tião de Azevedo made a huge save. Maracachita SC's Tião de Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Maracachita SC from getting a goal against them. João Francisco Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tião de Azevedo having to interfere. Juninho Botelho hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. After 82 played minutes Maracachita SC got a freekick which was hit by Décio Tasso. Valdo Brito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Valdo Brito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Paulo Barral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jerônimo Catarinense having to make a save. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cunhupuca's goalkeeper Jerônimo Catarinense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Caetano Lopes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Francisco Nascimento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Maracachita SC's zone, Caetano Lopes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tião de Azevedo came out of the goal and Caetano Lopes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 98thth minute of the game João Francisco Nascimento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maracachita SC's Tião de Azevedo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cunhupuca's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
