The audience was convinced that Genílson Paranaense's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eugênio de Toledo was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. When Ediberto França fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Charrua Futebol Gaúcho's protests and gave Ediberto França a yellow card for diving instead. After 10 played minutes Charrua Futebol Gaúcho got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto França. Taperao's Eugênio de Toledo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Taperao from getting a goal against them. Tomé Dionísio hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Ediberto França in the 21stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Eugênio de Toledo, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 22 minutes into the match, Betão Sampaio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Amílton Bezerra. Charrua Futebol Gaúcho's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Betão Sampaio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Eugênio de Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Toninho Cavalcante in the 26th minute of the match. Betão Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amílton Bezerra having to interfere. Toninho Cavalcante hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. 38 minutes into the game, Raúl Cardozo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Charrua Futebol Gaúcho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Taperao the free kick. A collision led to Charrua Futebol Gaúcho getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Raúl Cardozo hit a great ball. Arthur Valle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Taperao booed when Charrua Futebol Gaúcho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toninho Cavalcante didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 played minutes, Taperao's Tomé Dionísio shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Amílton Bezerra came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Taperao reached it. Arthur Valle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Amílton Bezerra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Arthur Valle made the kick off in the second half. Amílton Bezerra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Betão Sampaio in the 54th minute. After 56 minutes, João Sá mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Taperao and the Charrua Futebol Gaúcho players grew even worse after the yellow card. Gonçalo de Souza took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eugênio de Toledo. Taperao's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ediberto França's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eugênio de Toledo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. After having played for 62 minutes, Luiz Eduardo Cosme managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Charrua Futebol Gaúcho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Eduardo Cosme was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eugênio de Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ediberto França, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Eugênio de Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Genílson Paranaense in the 66th minute of the match. Eugênio de Toledo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Charrua Futebol Gaúcho fans cheered their team off the field, for while Taperao had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
