The referee ignored Mucuna SC's protests and gave Ronaldão Nóbrega a yellow card for diving instead. Mucuna SC:s Humberto Paes showed great skill when he stopped Luiz Fernando Favoretto:s penalty. 21 minutes into the match, Saraiva FC's Valdir Godoi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Humberto Paes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valdir Godoi in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Humberto Paes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Valdir Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Paes having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Saraiva FC's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Augusto Arruda came free, but Washington Marinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 35th minute Valdir Godoi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Humberto Paes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 38th minute, José Carlos Tinoco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Humberto Paes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 42nd minute, José Carlos Tinoco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 47 minutes into the game, Nicolas Freire was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mucuna SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Saraiva FC the free kick. The supporters of Saraiva FC booed when Mucuna SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Freire didn't get a good kick on the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Carlos Augusto Arruda made the kick off in the second half. Vítor Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mucuna SC's Humberto Paes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Mucuna SC from getting a goal against them. In the 69th minute Vítor Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Marinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Valdir Godoi's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 80thth minute, Humberto Paes skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After having played for 81 minutes, José Carlos Tinoco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saraiva FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Carlos Tinoco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th minute of the match, José Carlos Tinoco tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Humberto Paes saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Fernando Vinhas hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Mucuna SC's Ronaldão Nóbrega couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 90th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Saraiva FC. Valdir Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Paes having to interfere. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Mucuna SC were victorious despite being under pressure from Saraiva FC for much of the match.
