A hard shot by Amadeu Zonta from long distance, 7 minutes into the match, got Vicente Paraibano's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Vicente Paraibano made a fantastic save in the 11th minute, when Luiz Fernando Lago sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Parajuru booed when Taquarussu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Júnior Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sérgio Neto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beto Donato having to interfere. In the 21stth minute of the game Gláuber Torres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Taquarussu's Beto Donato was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Taquarussu's Enio Furtado sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vicente Paraibano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Taquarussu's Enio Furtado dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Gláuber Torres fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beto Donato having to interfere. If Luiz Fernando Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luiz Fernando Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Vicente Paraibano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enio Furtado was the one to do the kick off. The audience was convinced that Luiz Fernando Lago's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vicente Paraibano was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. If Enio Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the match, Taquarussu's goalkeeper Beto Donato had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gláuber Torres. In the 71st minute, Sérgio Neto fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Beto Donato, passed just outside the right post. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Enio Furtado put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Vicente Paraibano. Luiz Fernando Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Vicente Paraibano tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Parajuru's Vicente Paraibano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enio Furtado in the 93rd minute of play. In the 96th minute Luiz Fernando Lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Paraibano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Taquarussu's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
