Luciano Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilvan Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilvan Marinho might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luciano Mendes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gilvan Marinho ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Gilvan Marinho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luciano Mendes was relentless in the 61st minute of the game.
