If Afonsinho Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Afonsinho Loureiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aloísio Barral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wanderson Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. If Manfredo Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute Falcão Borges shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hamílton Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Falcão Borges came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Alemao SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Falcão Borges couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Afonsinho Loureiro got free with Aloísio Barral in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Aloísio Barral made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Afonsinho Loureiro sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Borges in the 28th minute of play forced Sabara SC's goalkeeper Hamílton Correia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Sabara SC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Vito de Sena hit a great ball. Manfredo Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Hamílton Correia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hamílton Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falcão Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute, Manfredo Baptista got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 45 minutes, Ciro Paulista mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Alemao SC and the Sabara SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Alemao SC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Ciro Paulista hit a great ball. In the 48th minute Sabara SC were awarded a corner. Aílton Bastos went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Sabara SC's Aílton Bastos to fire away a dangerous shot which Aloísio Barral despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Falcão Borges stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Sabara SC's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Borges came free, but Hamílton Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hamílton Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falcão Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manfredo Baptista recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Falcão Borges had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aílton Bastos hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 72nd minute Nestor Lopes managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. The audience was convinced that Falcão Borges's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hamílton Correia was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. After having played for 78 minutes, Wanderson Mangueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sabara SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wanderson Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 82 in the game by Manfredo Baptista from a close distance when the talented Hamílton Correia managed to make a qualified save. Sabara SC's players were relieved. After a rather tough play, Sabara SC's Giovanni Maia got a free kick in the 87th minute. If Afonsinho Loureiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aloísio Barral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wanderson Mangueira in the 95th minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
