Edgard Toledo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tiago Teixeira, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. If Tiago Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Custódio Tasso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Candido defense, Custódio Tasso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edgard Toledo. The Candido fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edgard Toledo should have stopped the shot. Bebeto Bueno kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Tiago Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Denílson Senna came out of the goal and Horácio Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edgard Toledo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiago Teixeira in the 36th minute of play. Denílson Senna stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olavo Silva's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. In the 43rd play minute Horácio Guimarães came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Denílson Senna. 1-1.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Olavo Silva was the one to do the kick off. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 60 minutes into the game, Candido's Horácio Guimarães nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Denílson Senna made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. After a defensive mix-up in Candido's zone, Custódio Tasso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgard Toledo came out of the goal and Custódio Tasso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Olavo Silva in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Denílson Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 71 minutes into the match, Candido's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago Teixeira came free, but Edgard Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Benê Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Benê Seco charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Benê Seco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 76th match minute, Camburi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benê Seco to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 79 minutes, Horácio Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Candido's supporters crossed their fingers, but Horácio Guimarães was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Edgard Toledo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiago Teixeira in the 85th minute of the match. After having played for 86 minutes, Custódio Tasso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Camburi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Custódio Tasso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Camburi's Benê Seco pulled a muscle in his back after 87 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Custódio Neves charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Custódio Neves the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Candido's Custódio Neves got a free kick in the 88th minute. If Custódio Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew the final whistle, Candido could leave the field as winners, despite Camburi having more of the ball for most of the match.
