Marcelinho Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manoel Rezende having to interfere. Zé Carlos Dionísio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 24 minutes into the match, Luiz Fábio Tróia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Manoel Rezende. Taguaracu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Curicaca FC the free kick. After 26 played minutes Taguaracu got a freekick which was hit by Raúl Siqueira. Luiz Fábio Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 35 played minutes Taguaracu got a freekick which was hit by Zé Carlos Dionísio. When Zé Carlos Dionísio came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Taguaracu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zé Carlos Dionísio couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, Curicaca FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Tinoco came free, but Valdo Aguiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdo Aguiar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Carlos Dionísio in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute, Elder Antunes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adelino Velloso took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 49th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Manoel Rezende. Taguaracu's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marcelinho Teixeira to make the kick off. With a little luck, Taguaracu's Manoel Rezende got control of the ball when Luiz Fábio Tróia tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 54 minutes, Luiz Fábio Tróia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Curicaca FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fábio Tróia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 61 played minutes Curicaca FC got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião de Toledo. Ademir Tinoco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdo Aguiar having to interfere. If Ademir Tinoco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Frank Valadares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Taguaracu's supporters rose to their feet, but Frank Valadares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valdo Aguiar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Manoel Rezende successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Taguaracu players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
