Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Alfredo Ortiz started the match with the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadinho's zone, Mathias Alvarenga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermínio Massa came out of the goal and Mathias Alvarenga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 8 minutes into the match, Mathias Alvarenga notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Chapadinho's Hermínio Massa. Hermínio Massa was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 11th match minute, Chapadinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonel de Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Alfredinho Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mathias Alvarenga in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hermínio Massa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gerson Negri during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 17 played minutes Chapadinho got a freekick which was hit by Gerson Negri. If Alfredinho Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Chapadinho's zone, Alfredinho Vinhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adalmo Romero kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Mathias Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Hermínio Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Catanduva getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. João Augusto Veloso hit a great ball. Alfredo Ortiz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zé Pedro Lago read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Catanduva's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ronaldão Toledo in the 35th minute. The corner led Catanduva's Ronaldão Toledo to fire away a dangerous shot which Hermínio Massa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Chapadinho's Joel Lago slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Zé Pedro Lago. That made the score 1-1 after 36 minutes of play. Joel Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mathias Alvarenga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Alfredinho Vinhas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catanduva's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredinho Vinhas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermínio Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Hermínio Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfredinho Vinhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alfredinho Vinhas made a kick off. Mathias Alvarenga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adalmo Romero kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. The corner led to Catanduva's Luís Guilherme Vinhas getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredinho Vinhas in the 68th minute of play forced Chapadinho's goalkeeper Hermínio Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Alfredo Ortiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 77th minute, Leonel de Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the last second Hermínio Massa throw himself and got hold of the ball when Alfredinho Vinhas in the 79thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Adalmo Romero hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. A collision led to Chapadinho getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Adalmo Romero hit a great ball. In the 90th match minute, Chapadinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Carlos Freire to maneuver through the defense. Catanduva's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 92nd minute of the game, when Ronaldão Toledo after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Chapadinho's goal. Ronaldão Toledo was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. If Joel Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Catanduva were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
