After a rather tough play, Palomas's Franklin Amorim got a free kick in the 16th minute. After having played for 17 minutes, Luiz Fabiano Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stray Dogs S. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fabiano Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adilson Galvão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rodrigo Cavalcante in the 27th minute. The supporters of Palomas booed when Stray Dogs S. C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aloísio Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adilson Galvão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Walmir Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute.
