A collision led to Cauarru getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Cláudio das Neves hit a great ball. Sílvio Luís de Brito was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Alfredão de Senna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christiano Freire in the 19th minute of play. Alfredão de Senna showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christiano Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Arí Romero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wanderson Correia in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute Walmir de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arí Romero saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Christiano Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute Christiano Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredão de Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Wanderson Correia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Arí Romero. Flecheira FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wanderson Correia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 46th minute, Natanael Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

If Wanderson Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Conrado Rosado charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Conrado Rosado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience was convinced that Walmir de Carvalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arí Romero was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Walmir de Carvalho in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arí Romero prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cléber Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cauarru's Walmir de Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Cauarru's Cléber Simão got a free kick in the 81st minute. 82 minutes into the match, Cauarru's goal looked a bit too open when Haroldo Carneiro came free, but Alfredão de Senna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zé Augusto Paraibano hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Flecheira FC's zone, Cláudio das Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arí Romero came out of the goal and Cláudio das Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
