A collision led to Maruanum EC getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. André Luiz Vasconcelos hit a great ball. Edmundo Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Mateus Dracena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 15thth minute of the game Bebeto Esteves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Verdao's Gilberto de Lara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bebeto Esteves might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilberto de Lara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bebeto Esteves ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Maruanum EC booed when Verdao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Natã Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Gilberto de Lara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Verdao's Gilberto de Lara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bebeto Esteves in the 28th minute of play. After 32 played minutes Verdao got a freekick which was hit by Francisco Neto. After recieving a nice pass, Maruanum EC's Jânio Perez tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After 36 played minutes, Maruanum EC's Edinho Chaves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gilberto de Lara came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Maruanum EC reached it. When Victor Diniz came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Maruanum EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Victor Diniz couldn't finish the play. Bebeto Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto de Lara having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Victor Diniz notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Verdao's Gilberto de Lara. Gilberto de Lara was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Victor Diniz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gilberto de Lara read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. In the 58th minute Bebeto Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilberto de Lara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Victor Diniz in the 59th minute. Natã Cerezo kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Victor Diniz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Victor Diniz might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilberto de Lara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victor Diniz ran back to his position shaking his head. Victor Diniz's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 74thth minute, Gilberto de Lara skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 75th minute, Maruanum EC's Bebeto Esteves ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gilberto de Lara. Gilberto de Lara yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-4. 79 minutes into the match, Maruanum EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Paulo Cearense came free, but Mateus Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valdir Mendes's late challenge caught a Verdao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Valdir Mendes helped the player get up and apologised. In the 83rd minute, Valdir Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Victor Diniz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Gilberto de Lara made a huge save. Bebeto Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Verdao's defense didn't have a chance, in the 90th minute, when Bebeto Esteves scored to the left of an out of position Gilberto de Lara, making the score, 0-5. Maruanum EC played a much better game than Verdao and deserved their victory. The Verdao players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
