Fabiano Alcântara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Paulo Cearense in the 4th minute of the match. 8 minutes into the match, Ouvidor's goalkeeper Fabiano Alcântara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmundo Teixeira. In the 12th minute Maurício Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fábio Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Juvenal Prestes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ouvidor's supporters rose to their feet, but Juvenal Prestes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilberto de Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edmundo Teixeira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 27th minute Maurício Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilberto de Lara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gilberto de Lara stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maurício Garcia's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. The supporters of Ouvidor booed when Verdao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valério Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. 32 minutes into the match, Verdao's goal looked a bit too open when Maurício Garcia came free, but Gilberto de Lara reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Juvenal Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilberto de Lara having to interfere. Luís Paulo Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Fabiano Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edmundo Teixeira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Fabiano Alcântara made a huge save. Juvenal Prestes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maurício Garcia to make the kick off. Verdao were furious when Rômulo Andrade was red carded, 54 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Verdao! Gilberto de Lara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Maciel in the 57th minute of play. When Ouvidor's Maurício Garcia in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Verdao's goalie prevented a goal. Juvenal Prestes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Gilberto de Lara when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 82 minutes into the game, Verdao's Edmundo Teixeira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fabiano Alcântara made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Edmundo Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabiano Alcântara having to interfere. Gilberto de Lara made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Juvenal Prestes sent off a good shot on target. In the 98th match minute, Verdao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natã Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. Otávio Maciel took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 99th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gilberto de Lara. Verdao's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Verdao players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
