An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos de Azevedo in the 23rd minute of play forced Athletic Los Vikingos's goalkeeper Manoel Xavier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Carlos Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoel Xavier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jarbas Queirós hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. If Luiz Paulo Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Paulo Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57thth minute of the game Luiz Paulo Cavalcante who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tacare EC's Osvaldinho Secco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 68 played minutes Tacare EC got a freekick which was hit by Ramiro Nóbrega. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Magalhães got free with Manoel Xavier in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Alberto Magalhães in the 77th minute of play forced Athletic Los Vikingos's goalkeeper Manoel Xavier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st match minute, Tacare EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto de Brito to maneuver through the defense. 93 minutes into the match, Tacare EC's goal looked a bit too open when Luiz Paulo Cavalcante came free, but Osvaldinho Secco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Athletic Los Vikingos's goalkeeper Manoel Xavier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Alberto Magalhães. The supporters of Athletic Los Vikingos booed when Tacare EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position.
