Paulinho Motta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Nascimento in the 4th minute of play. Ivo Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wellington Queiroz in the 8th minute of play forced Miraporanga's goalkeeper Juan Pirani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10thth minute of the game Zézinho Nascimento who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pejeu's Paulinho Motta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Pejeu's zone, Ivo Monteiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulinho Motta came out of the goal and Ivo Monteiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Walmyr Reis's late challenge caught a Miraporanga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Walmyr Reis helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pejeu fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 19th minute. Penalty! Guilherme Moreno walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 23rdth minute of the game Ivo Monteiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pejeu's Paulinho Motta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pejeu's goalkeeper Paulinho Motta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 26 minutes into the game, Cléberson Sarmento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pejeu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Miraporanga the free kick. In the 26th match minute, Pejeu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléberson Sarmento to maneuver through the defense. Ivo Monteiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulinho Motta having to interfere. 38 minutes into the match, Miraporanga's goalkeeper Juan Pirani had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Almir Toledo. Almir Toledo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 40th minute. Pejeu's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. If Zézinho Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zézinho Nascimento made a kick off. Zézinho Nascimento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Paulinho Motta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. During the 63rd minute of the match Walmyr Reis completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Walmyr Reis a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Miraporanga booed when Pejeu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Walmyr Reis didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th match minute, Miraporanga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gildo Fontes to maneuver through the defense. Ivo Monteiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Paulinho Motta made a huge save. Paulinho Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zézinho Nascimento in the 73rd minute of the match. After 77 played minutes Pejeu got a freekick which was hit by Diamantino Prata. If Ivo Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pejeu's Paulinho Motta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zézinho Nascimento in the 83rd minute of play. Almir Toledo struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Juan Pirani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pejeu. In the 95th minute, Willian Alves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Pejeu's Claudinei Campidelis got a free kick in the 96th minute. If Ivo Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Miraporanga supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Miraporanga would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
