The crowd rose to their feet as Jorge Queiroz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Chicão Aguiar. That made the score 1-0 in the 11 minute of play. Laerte Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubinho Arruda in the 15th minute of play. In the 19th minute, Célio Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Rubinho Arruda came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Port Charlotte FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rubinho Arruda couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute, Cauã Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 34th match minute, Maroto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Carneiro to maneuver through the defense. Cauã Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Port Charlotte FC's attentive Jorginho Cosme managed to snatch the ball when Aírton Castro made a throw-in in the 38th minute of the game. The supporters of Port Charlotte FC booed when Maroto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Célio Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 52ndth minute of the game Célio Carneiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Port Charlotte FC's Chicão Aguiar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Port Charlotte FC's Rubinho Arruda got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Célio Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Chicão Aguiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorginho Cosme charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jorginho Cosme the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 69th minute of the game. One of Port Charlotte FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maroto:s goal. After having played for 75 minutes, Célio Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maroto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Célio Carneiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
