The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 8 minutes into the match, Gatinho's Rômulo de Barros sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bruninho Prado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 14 played minutes, Pitangui SS's Gilmar Ortiz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vânderson Pires came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pitangui SS reached it. In the 16th match minute, Pitangui SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrinho Souza to maneuver through the defense. Gatinho's Vânderson Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vito Azevedo in the 20th minute of play. The supporters of Pitangui SS booed when Gatinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benjamim Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Guilherme Baptista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Vânderson Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vânderson Pires took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vito Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 24 played minutes Pitangui SS got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Gerber. In the 31st minute, Benjamim Rosa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pitangui SS's Bruninho Prado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vitinho Passos in the 37th minute of play. An unexpected shot in the 39th minute by Rômulo de Barros got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Rômulo de Barros struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Bruninho Prado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gatinho. Pedrinho Souza kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 48th minute, Gatinho's Vitinho Passos dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Luiz Guilherme Baptista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th match minute, Pitangui SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrinho Souza to maneuver through the defense. If Vitinho Passos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 82 minutes into the match, Pitangui SS's goal looked a bit too open when Rômulo de Barros came free, but Bruninho Prado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Gatinho's Vânderson Pires got control of the ball when Luiz Guilherme Baptista tried to sneak it across the goal line. Luís Fernando Luz charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Fernando Luz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 96 played minutes Vito Azevedo rounded Gatinho's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Gatinho fully deserved thier win.
