Ivo's Carlos Queiroz got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 11 minutes into the match, Ivo's goal looked a bit too open when Luisão Campidelis came free, but Rubens Toscano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Vivaldo Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 15th minute Carlos Queiroz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Sá saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vladimir Vides during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 16th match minute, Atauba SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vladimir Vides to maneuver through the defense. Carlos Queiroz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. João Francisco Sá tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 27 minutes, Ismael Zilles mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ivo and the Atauba SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Ivo's Ismael Zilles got a free kick in the 27th minute. Mané Velasco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Queiroz blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without João Francisco Sá having to make a save. João Francisco Sá showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Carlos Queiroz struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. João Francisco Sá didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ivo. Carlos Queiroz received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. João Francisco Sá came out and tried to block the shot, but Carlos Queiroz slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 46th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Queiroz to strike the kick off in the second half. Atauba SC's João Francisco Sá played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Queiroz in the 54th minute of play. Luisão Campidelis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Carlos Queiroz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Ivo booed when Atauba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vladimir Vides didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atauba SC's goalkeeper João Francisco Sá, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 71 minutes, Serginho Moreira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ivo and the Atauba SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute, Serginho Moreira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Atauba SC's Kléber Vargas tried to score from far away in the 72nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Vivaldo Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Atauba SC's zone, Carlos Queiroz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Francisco Sá came out of the goal and Carlos Queiroz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 83rd minute, Carlos Queiroz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. João Francisco Sá was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Rubens Toscano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Augusto Queirós in the 87th minute of play. If Luisão Campidelis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivo's Rubens Toscano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tales Urbano in the 94th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ivo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Atauba SC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
