The supporters of Barroquinha AD booed when Crickets was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonel Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 18 minutes, Zacarias Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Barroquinha AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zacarias Gonçalves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zeca Sarmento might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kléberson Negri. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Edson Hoffmann fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barroquinha AD's protests and gave Edson Hoffmann a yellow card for diving instead. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Zeca Sarmento made the kick off in the second half. Edson Hoffmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kléberson Negri having to interfere. But to his dismay, Zeca Sarmento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Dedê Negri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Kléberson Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeca Sarmento in the 64th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Crickets's Ramón Rocha got a free kick in the 80th minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
