Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Claudinho de Barros started the match with the kick off. Ferroviária SA's Ricardo Duarte played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haroldo da Fonseca in the 4th minute of play. Eugênio Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho de Barros in the 7th minute of the match. After 8 played minutes Ferroviária SA got a freekick which was hit by Marcelinho Pirani. In the 9th match minute, Ferroviária SA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Tinoco to maneuver through the defense. Mané da Silveira made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 11thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Ricardo Duarte would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. In the 12th minute, Clóvis Ferreira made a precise shot to the right of Eugênio Lira. Vargem EC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Claudinho de Barros might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eugênio Lira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claudinho de Barros ran back to his position shaking his head. Eugênio Lira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcelinho Pirani went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. If Haroldo da Fonseca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The goalkeeper, Ricardo Duarte, was totally fooled by Vargem EC's Sydney de Alcântara, who 27 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Mané da Silveira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 played minutes Ferroviária SA got a freekick which was hit by Wilson Tinoco. Eugênio Lira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Claudinho de Barros's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Marcelinho Pirani fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugênio Lira having to interfere. 41 minutes into the match, Ferroviária SA's goalkeeper Ricardo Duarte had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mané da Silveira. In the 42nd minute Marcelinho Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugênio Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vargem EC's Eugênio Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcelinho Pirani in the 45th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho de Barros in the 47th minute of play forced Vargem EC's goalkeeper Eugênio Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

53 minutes into the game, Nildo Sá was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Vargem EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ferroviária SA the free kick. In the 53rd minute, Nildo Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eugênio Lira was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jardel Duarte. The referee gave Vargem EC a penalty, 57 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Sydney de Alcântara, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Ferroviária SA's Ricardo Duarte. 2-2. Ricardo Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mané da Silveira in the 61st minute of play. Mané da Silveira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Duarte read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Mané da Silveira struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Ricardo Duarte didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vargem EC. If Marcelinho Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Ferroviária SA booed when Vargem EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nildo Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mané da Silveira in the 73rd minute of play forced Ferroviária SA's goalkeeper Ricardo Duarte to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mané da Silveira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ricardo Duarte having to interfere. The supporters of Ferroviária SA booed when Vargem EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nildo Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Mané da Silveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vargem EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Mané da Silveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Duarte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 93 minutes into the game, Jardel Duarte was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ferroviária SA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vargem EC the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ferroviária SA fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 92nd minute. Penalty! Sydney de Alcântara placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Haroldo da Fonseca in the 95th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ricardo Duarte saved Ferroviária SA from getting behind. Armandinho Quintal's late challenge caught a Ferroviária SA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Armandinho Quintal helped the player get up and apologised. 97 minutes into the game, one of Vargem EC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Vargem EC:s Eugênio Lira showed great skill when he stopped Jardel Duarte:s penalty. In the 102nd minute, Haroldo da Fonseca got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
