Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Saint FC's Gilvan Medeiros started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 played minutes Saint FC got a freekick which was hit by Arlindo Salgado. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olavo de Souza during the 6th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Zé Roberto Brodel got free with Noel Brodel in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Gilvan Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saint FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilvan Medeiros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wanderson Veiga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. But to his dismay, Aníbal Couto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Paulão Lopes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Noel Brodel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Castanho's goal looked a bit too open when Aníbal Couto came free, but Wanderson Veiga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 43 minutes, Arlindo Salgado managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saint FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arlindo Salgado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When the match was over Saint FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Castanho throughout the match.
