Eduardo Hermes's late challenge caught a Balao SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 23rd minute Patrício Bezerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeremias de Barros struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Leonardo Saldanha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Balao SS. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeremias de Barros got free with Leonardo Saldanha in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 33 minutes into the game, Balao SS's Alexandre Oliveira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leonardo Saldanha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zacarias Valladares in the 37th minute of play forced Balao SS's goalkeeper Charles Monteiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 44 minutes on the clock, Eduardo Hermes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 43 minutes into the game, one of La Guardia Football Club:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 46th minute, the referee gave Balao SS a penalty. Dino Tróia looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Leonardo Saldanha.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Patrício Bezerra to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Balao SS's zone, Felipe Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Monteiro came out of the goal and Felipe Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Felipe Queirós blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Charles Monteiro having to make a save. After 63 played minutes Balao SS got a freekick which was hit by Antônio Carneiro. La Guardia Football Club's Leonardo Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrício Bezerra in the 69th minute of play. After having played for 70 minutes, Felipe Queirós managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. La Guardia Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felipe Queirós was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
