Reynaldo Trevisan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 12th minute, Laerte Tavares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcus Albuquerque who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Reynaldo Loyola when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Hermínio Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reynaldo Trevisan in the 22nd minute of the match. Flamengo's Reynaldo Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Veiga in the 25th minute of play. Hermínio Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Trevisan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vinícius Madureira during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vinícius Madureira hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Partidario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaká de Moraes struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Hermínio Coutinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flamengo. In the 37th minute, Vinícius Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reynaldo Trevisan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Reynaldo Trevisan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Hermínio Coutinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ademir Aparecido in the 44th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hermínio Coutinho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Reynaldo Trevisan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Partidario players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Flamengo were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Josué Veiga stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Reynaldo Loyola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Albuquerque in the 53rd minute of play. Flamengo's Reynaldo Loyola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Josué Veiga in the 55th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Partidario's zone, Reynaldo Trevisan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hermínio Coutinho came out of the goal and Reynaldo Trevisan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Marcus Albuquerque sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ademir Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ademir Aparecido sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hermínio Coutinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ademir Aparecido, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 72 minutes into the match, Flamengo's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Albuquerque came free, but Reynaldo Loyola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hermínio Coutinho was a little too slow when Reynaldo Trevisan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 86th minute. The score was now 0-2. Reynaldo Trevisan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hermínio Coutinho having to interfere. Vinícius Madureira was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 95th minute, Vinícius Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flamengo's Kaká de Moraes couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 96th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Partidario.
