The supporters of Placa SC booed when Caxambu SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nestor Gonçalves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kauã Melo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Castro having to interfere. After 27 minutes, Nestor Gonçalves made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Placa SC's Sandrinho Tinoco tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 30 minutes into the match, Luís Cordeiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sandrinho Tinoco. Placa SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Cordeiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After 34 minutes, Perivaldo Neves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Placa SC and the Caxambu SS players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Placa SC's Perivaldo Neves got a free kick in the 34th minute. Nestor Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. Sandrinho Tinoco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caxambu SS. In the 45thth minute of the game Nestor Gonçalves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Placa SC's Sandrinho Tinoco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nestor Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Sandrinho Tinoco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caxambu SS. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nestor Gonçalves to make the kick off. Edvaldo Ferreira hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Placa SC's Sandrinho Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nestor Gonçalves in the 57th minute of play. Nestor Gonçalves might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sandrinho Tinoco. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nestor Gonçalves ran back to his position shaking his head. Luís Cordeiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Tinoco having to interfere. André Luiz Rosa kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Nestor Gonçalves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sandrinho Tinoco was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. In the 70th minute Nestor Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandrinho Tinoco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sandrinho Tinoco came out of the goal and Luís Cordeiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nestor Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sandrinho Tinoco having to interfere. 91 minutes into the match, Placa SC's goalkeeper Sandrinho Tinoco had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Cordeiro. 92 minutes into the match, Placa SC's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Gonçalves came free, but Sandrinho Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sandrinho Tinoco didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 95th minute, which inside left pole to 1-4. Caxambu SS played a much better game than Placa SC and deserved their victory. The Placa SC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
