The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the game, Adrianinho Tróia was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catigua FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cassiano the free kick. Catigua FC's Aluísio Proença got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gerson Zonta might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bernardo Bastos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gerson Zonta ran back to his position shaking his head. Cláudio Tepedino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Hamílton Toledo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aluísio Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 27 minutes, Cláudio Tepedino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catigua FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Tepedino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 28 minutes into the game, Aluísio Proença cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Hamílton Toledo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aluísio Proença sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 35 minutes into the match, Cassiano's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Tepedino came free, but Hamílton Toledo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aluísio Proença during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Aluísio Proença kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. When Catigua FC's Aluísio Proença in the 39th minute got a chance for a shot 39th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Catigua FC booed when Cassiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Matos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hamílton Toledo was a little too slow when Aluísio Proença got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-3. Cláudio Tepedino fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamílton Toledo having to interfere. After having played for 63 minutes, Aluísio Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catigua FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aluísio Proença was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 73rd match minute, Catigua FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Eger to maneuver through the defense. Cassiano's Hamílton Toledo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Cassiano from getting a goal against them. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cassiano fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Hamílton Toledo, was totally fooled by Catigua FC's Pedro Luiz Cardoso, who 83 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Hamílton Toledo made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Diogo Eger sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Aluísio Proença took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Hamílton Toledo to make any attempt to save it. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Catigua FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
