Josué Castro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jailson de Senna's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. When Chico Berger came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Pojuquinhos fans jumped to their feet. Marco Branco's late challenge caught a Timboteua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Pojuquinhos's Marco Branco got a free kick in the 16th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Timboteua's Bebeto Arósio broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. Pojuquinhos's Josué Castro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jailson de Senna in the 24th minute of play. Hudson Barreto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chico Berger, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Marco Branco hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Timboteua's Bebeto Arósio couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Pojuquinhos. In the 46th minute Chico Berger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hudson Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pojuquinhos's Josué Castro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Pojuquinhos from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jailson de Senna stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 78th minute, Jailson de Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
