The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. José Vítor Quadros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th match minute, Real was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tostão Xavier to maneuver through the defense. Arlindo Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino Damião in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the match, Guanambi's goal looked a bit too open when Tostão Xavier came free, but Nicolas Dias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diogo Lopez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 16th minute, José Vítor Quadros made a precise shot to the right of Arlindo Gerber. Real's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Dino Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Arlindo Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clemente Barral blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arlindo Gerber having to make a save. Guanambi's Dino Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Tostão Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Vítor Quadros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Arlindo Gerber tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dino Damião stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arlindo Gerber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Vítor Quadros, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Diogo Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Nicolas Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 69 played minutes Real got a freekick which was hit by Celsinho Cruz. In the 70th match minute, Guanambi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nilmar de Castro to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 71 minutes, Tostão Xavier managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tostão Xavier was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tostão Xavier might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nicolas Dias. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tostão Xavier ran back to his position shaking his head. José Vítor Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arlindo Gerber having to interfere. Guanambi's Dino Damião got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 79 minutes, Diogo Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 80th minute, Luiz Fábio Barbosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diogo Lopez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Nicolas Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Guanambi's Paulo Moreno got a free kick in the 89th minute. Arlindo Gerber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Vítor Quadros in the 95th minute of the match. Real's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
