The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aírton Massa might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wellington Lima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aírton Massa ran back to his position shaking his head. 11 minutes into the game, Manguba AD's Guga Vinhas nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wellington Lima made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 15 minutes into the match, Henrique Cavalcante notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Parahyba's Wellington Lima. Wellington Lima was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wellington Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrique Cavalcante in the 19th minute of play. Joaquin Chinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Santos in the 22nd minute of play. Joaquin Chinto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Naldo Marinho in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, Parahyba's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Cavalcante came free, but Wellington Lima reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 28th minute of the match, Maurício Santos tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Joaquin Chinto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Wellington Lima made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henrique Cavalcante in the 29th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Wellington Lima was out of position in the 55 minute of play, and Henrique Cavalcante capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Henrique Cavalcante really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. In the 71st minute, Guga Vinhas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wellington Lima was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-7. Maurício Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Chinto having to interfere. In the 78th minute Henrique Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wellington Lima saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zeca de Mendonça hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. A hard shot 81 in the game by Guga Vinhas from a close distance when the talented Wellington Lima managed to make a qualified save. Parahyba's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Naldo Marinho in the 85th minute of play forced Manguba AD's goalkeeper Joaquin Chinto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wellington Lima showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henrique Cavalcante, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. 89 minutes into the game, Guga Vinhas lined in a short shot 1-8 behind a frustrated Wellington Lima. Joaquin Chinto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Maurício Santos's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Joaquin Chinto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Naldo Marinho in the 94th minute of play. When Pedrão Guimarães fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Parahyba's protests and gave Pedrão Guimarães a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Parahyba getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Pedrão Guimarães hit a great ball. When the final whistle sounded Manguba AD left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Parahyba.
