In the 20th minute, Macao SS's Dudu Velasco seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Dudu Velasco the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Macao SS protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Dudu Velasco had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 20 minutes into the game, one of Macao SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Machacalis EC's Cássio Mattos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Lopez in the 26th minute of play. In the 29th minute, Horácio Lopez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Macao SS fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Batista in the 33rd minute of play forced Macao SS's goalkeeper Armindo Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jorge Faustino took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cássio Mattos.
