Ciro Madureira started the match with the kick off. Catende SS's Álvaro Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio de Amorim in the 4th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, Ronaldão Vianna was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Diamante Negro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Catende SS the free kick. In the 10th minute, Ronaldão Vianna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Catende SS's Álvaro Terra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patrick Oliveira in the 15th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, Catende SS's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Oliveira came free, but Álvaro Terra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute Ciro Madureira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dadá Britto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dadá Britto made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Valdemar da Silva sent off a good shot on target. 20 minutes into the match, Patrick Oliveira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Álvaro Terra. Catende SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patrick Oliveira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Anísio de Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Diamante Negro booed when Catende SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gerson Terra didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdemar da Silva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Dadá Britto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Diamante Negro's Anísio de Amorim sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Álvaro Terra narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Delfim Fonseca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Álvaro Terra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute Anísio de Amorim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Terra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Valdemar da Silva got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patrick Oliveira made a kick off. Dadá Britto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Madureira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 68 minutes into the match, Catende SS's Ciro Madureira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dadá Britto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 69 minutes into the game, one of Catende SS:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Diamante Negro a penalty, 71 minutes into the game. The audience was convinced that Patrick Oliveira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Terra was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. When Valdemar da Silva came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Catende SS fans jumped to their feet.
