In the 3rd minute Washington de Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albertinho Saraiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Almir Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Almir Zonta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Washington de Lara's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Albertinho Saraiva came free with the goalkeeper in the 15th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Almir Zonta could save by the left post. Washington de Lara took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Almir Zonta. Almir Zonta dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Santos FC's Almir Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington de Lara in the 20th minute of play. In the 24th minute Washington de Lara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Zonta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Albertinho Saraiva managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aquidavana FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Albertinho Saraiva was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Almir Zonta breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Santos FC's Almir Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Washington de Lara in the 26th minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Aquidavana FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertinho Saraiva to maneuver through the defense. Almir Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé Veloso in the 35th minute of play. Albertinho Saraiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Zonta having to interfere. Almir Zonta stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Washington de Lara's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Almir Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Washington de Lara in the 41st minute of the match. An unexpected shot in the 42nd minute by Albertinho Saraiva got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Washington de Lara struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Almir Zonta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Aquidavana FC. If Albertinho Saraiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Albertinho Saraiva got free with Almir Zonta in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reynaldo de Queiroz was the one to do the kick off. If Washington de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 54th minute, Juninho de Lima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 57 played minutes Santos FC got a freekick which was hit by Reynaldo de Queiroz. Santos FC's Almir Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Saraiva in the 58th minute of play. Almir Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Washington de Lara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomé Vidal kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Washington de Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albertinho Saraiva's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Almir Zonta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Almir Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Eduardo de Sena in the 82nd minute of the match. Washington de Lara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Almir Zonta having to interfere. Albertinho Saraiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Almir Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aquidavana FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
