Vágner Prado came out of the goal and Chiquinho Netto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Raí Batista got free with Marcel Tasso in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Rogério Mangueira fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alcantilado SS's protests and gave Rogério Mangueira a yellow card for diving instead. After 46 played minutes Alcantilado SS got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Mangueira. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ronaldinho Gonçalves to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Novedad F.C defense, Arlindo Pernambucano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcel Tasso. The Novedad F.C fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcel Tasso should have stopped the shot. In the 56th minute, Patrick Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Patrick Andrade blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vágner Prado having to make a save. Chiquinho Netto might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vágner Prado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chiquinho Netto ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience held their breath when Patrick Andrade in the 65th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Vágner Prado's left hand side. Marcel Tasso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rogério Mangueira's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. 78 minutes into the game, Romeu de Alcântara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Marcel Tasso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vito Montenegro during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vito Montenegro hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Marcel Tasso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arlindo Pernambucano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
