In the 13th minute, Evaristo Toledo made a precise shot to the right of Luizão Meireles. Caratinga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The supporters of Caratinga booed when Winterhell FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Doriva Zilles didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes into the game, Sebastião Hoffmann recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Oswaldo Nóbrega. The audience was convinced that Evaristo Toledo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luizão Meireles was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. The crowd rose to their feet as Caratinga's Sebastião Hoffmann slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Oswaldo Nóbrega. That made the score 3-1 after 48 minutes of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Patrício Matorin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Luizão Meireles made a huge save. After a rather tough play, Caratinga's Gilvan Araújo got a free kick in the 79th minute. After 86 played minutes, Caratinga's Eliézer Arce shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oswaldo Nóbrega came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Caratinga reached it. In the 87th minute Sebastião Hoffmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oswaldo Nóbrega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Caratinga's zone, Téo Marques stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luizão Meireles came out of the goal and Téo Marques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Evaristo Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
