Luiz Guilherme Mineiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dinei Bezerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Horácio Leão was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 20 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Carin:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Barbatao EC:s goal. In the 28th play minute Dênis Urbano came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Luiz Guilherme Mineiro. 2-0. Fabiano Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Ezequiel Pires tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee ignored Barbatao EC's protests and gave Gláuber de Castro a yellow card for diving instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Ezequiel Pires didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carin.
